A night to remember

James Wallin, editor, Utility Week

The Utility Week Awards 2023 was a celebration of innovation, ambition and achievement.

This was a welcome opportunity, after a challenging year, to recognise the hard work of teams and individuals across the sector in ensuring power and water flow smoothly.

I’m delighted to be able to present a rundown of our winner across 16 categories – two of which were split between utilities and their supply chain as a recognition of the quality of entries.

This year saw a record number of entries to the awards, across this new and improved set of categories. Our judges had an almost impossible task in whittling these down to a stellar set of finalists and then to the individual winners listed here.

The triumphant projects, teams and individuals showed a zeal to go above and beyond regulatory requirements to make a difference for their customers, for the environment and for the pursuit of net zero. There was also a strong theme of collaboration across the board, with evidence that utilities are opening themselves up to new ways of thinking and working.

Thanks to all of those who took the time to enter, to our judges for their time and effort this year in ploughing through a bumper crop of entries, and to our sponsors for helping us put on a night to remember.

And finally a huge congratulations to our finalists and well-deserved winners.

I look forward to reading more about the progress you've made in next year's haul of entries.
