Affinity Water & OCU Group

Affinity is committed to delivering low carbon infrastructure; strategically aligned to our environmental goals to tackle climate change, avoid water scarcity, and protect rare chalk streams.

Our Connect 2040 Programme, part of our Water Resource Management Plan, aims to deliver smarter water movement and network storage to proactively respond to mounting challenges.

The delivery of two 20-megalitre gravity-fed reservoirs avoids carbon-intensive pumping, reduces abstraction, and safeguards ecosystems, showcasing our approach to carbon reduction and commitment to sustainable operations.

Affinity and OCU Group have collaboratively embedded low carbon design, construction and commissioning - ensuring seamless infrastructure delivery and environmental responsibility.

M Group Energy

M Group ’s Levi route optimisation initiative has provided significant carbon reduction to our meter reading teams. Our next-gen route optimisation tool seamlessly integrates with our existing systems to deliver best-in-class efficiencies, creating carbon efficient walking routes for our meter readers and minimising driving times.

Our national coverage across multiple contracts and utility suppliers, paired with our 1,100 strong team of meter readers, provided the ideal platform to show that any task can be made carbon efficient.

National Gas Services

National Gas Services (NGS) is transforming gas management through pioneering mobile gas compression technology, delivering measurable environmental and financial impact. In 2024-25 our innovation prevented 7,232 tonnes of gas from being vented, saving the industry over £19 million, equivalent to heating 8,377 homes for a year.

As the only company in the UK with the capability to recompress gas at such low pressures, NGS has set a new industry standard in sustainable operations. Our £7 million investment in next-generation compressors underscores our commitment to net zero, proving that innovation, efficiency, and decarbonisation can successfully go hand in hand.

National Grid Electricity Transmission & Mott MacDonald

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is leading the decarbonisation of UK infrastructure through its deployment of Moata Carbon Portal, a digital solution developed by Mott MacDonald. Replacing fragmented, manual tools with a scalable, PAS 2080 aligned solution, the platform is already allowing over 280 users across 33 organisations to collaborate on low carbon design choices.

With a 60% efficiency gain in assessment and rapid sector-wide adoption, the portal is enabling real decarbonisation today of the infrastructure required to deliver the UK’s net zero transition.

Utilita Energy

Utilita’s Rooftop Revolution is transforming the UK’s built environment by solarising homes and sporting venues at scale. Combining a digital customer journey with influential sector partnerships, this initiative is tackling household emissions while positioning sport as a climate leader.

With the capacity to install 80-plus home systems per month and an industry-first “Are You Sporting Solar?” campaign with the British Association of Sustainability in Sport (BASIS), the programme is cutting grid reliance by up to 75% in homes and 25% in stadiums. Backed by substantial investment and a scalable framework, Utilita is setting a new benchmark for UK-wide decarbonisation.
